| Just heard on the news today, (appropriately Sunday) that JP2's
first Pope mobile sold for $ 600,000 to a
"Good Catholic". Seems like a real deal for a 1975 Ford Escort with the original
tires. I wonder if Christ would have chosen a '75 Ford Escort for his ride into
Jerusalem, or to cruise around the holy
land? I can picture all the boys squeezed together in the front and back seat eating shrooms and smoking reefer; with Jesus driving and Judas complaining about spending 600,000 silver pieces for a car with no radio or A/C. That is a rewrite of church history except for the real fact that some idiot really did pay $600,000 for JP2's 1975 Ford Escort. I can see a wax statue of JP2 sitting upright in the drivers seat of his beat up, humble, Escort, displayed prominantly on the altar of the Sistine Chapel ; with hundreds of thousands of catholic pilgrims waiting for their chance to genuflect before it. I can picture Ford Mtr Co.'s new ad, centered around the JP2 , saying; " Have you driven a Ford since 1975, if not come and feel the heavenly ride of saints in our retro JP2 Escort." Just a few months ago the new pope gave a mass and blessings for Ferrarri owners at the Vatican. ( I'm not making this up.) Has Catholicism finally been reduced to this? The pope's blessing of cars. $ 600,000 paid for a Ford Escort. 10,000 cases of pediphilia and a presidential pardon of sex offender priests in Texas, pleaded for by the Pope as a favor from the most corrupt president in U.S history. Ah, Martin Luther didn't go far enough. But I'll bet he's laughing at all this now and thinking ;" only an imbecile would be stupid enough to pay 600,000 dollars for a pope's 1975 Ford Escort, expecting to save his greedy soul, by driving it into heaven."
